G-code, what it is and how it works

G-code is the language the Ultimakers use. This code consists of steps the machine can execute. But what do we need to adjust and why?

Every cnc (computer numeric controlled) machine needs to know how to move, how fast etc. Most machines have software to translate a 3D-file (like this XXXL picture) into codes the machine can read, these are called G-codes. One of the programs that can do this for the Ultimaker is Cura. In order to to make the Ultimakers do what we want we need to adjust the G-code into:

– splitting the 3D file in two files for two ultimakers
– moving the table
– communication between the Ultimakers
